Peak Power Management
This strategy allows for a drastic reduction in fixed electricity costs by “cutting” demand peaks. The BESS system instantly injects stored energy when the plant’s consumption exceeds a pre-set threshold, preventing the grid from supplying that excess. This allows the industry to reduce its contracted power, eliminate penalties for excess power (maximum meter), and optimize the existing electrical infrastructure without costly connection upgrades.
Load Shifting and Arbitrage
Maximize the profitability of renewable generation and take advantage of electricity market volatility. It consists of storing energy at times of low cost (or surplus solar production that would otherwise be lost) to discharge and consume it—or sell it to the grid—at times when electricity is more expensive (Time-of-Use).
